This video is for any level of artist that is looking to figure out how to get up and running in the brand new Cinema 4D Motion Tracker system, and it has been perfectly honed to remove all unnecessary steps that can cause many tracking systems to slow down and become unmanageable. We will take you through an introduction to tracking times and footage types that will be made easy to understand. We'll also get into geometrical constraints and we'll show you how to insert geometry so you can test visual correction in real time. The main goal will be to make your 3d objects look like they belong in your footage. By the end of this video, you'll have a clear understanding of stereoscopic motion tracking and you'll be able to make your projects work exactly the way you want. Introduction
For some reason, match moving is like a sport. You want to be the best at it, but you're always bound by the nature of our universe. In football, the laws of physics rule the domain, and in 3D tracking, we are bound to the algorithms of the tracking system. Just like any man made system, its not perfect. There will be updates for years to come in this industry. People will be fine-tuning relationships between vectors and solving the governed dynamics, but for now, allow us to take the complications out of it so you can enjoy the results.
Types Of Tracking
One cannot stress enough how important it is to know your media well. If you start down the wrong path in the beginning, you're going to wish you could have that time back. There are several types of tracking, and 10 times as many chances in science to solve them. We will talk about the types of tracking that are both related and unrelated to the capabilities of Cinema 4D. Maxon developed it to work with its product and not reverse engineer compositing as we know it. So they had a wonderful opportunity to simplify their tracking system to not include tracking types that would be used for 2D compositing. Since we are already in 3D, we have little use of a 2D tracker alone. However, it requires many 2D Trackers to combine dimensionality for a 3D system. Huh? Don’t worry, the video makes it simple.
Undistortion
This word would barely exist if the world of Visual Effects didn’t emerge from the depths of the human mind. What is Lens Distortion? It can be your unresolved nightmare for days if you choose to not resolve it prior to starting a 3D match move. To break it down, all camera lenses have a bending phenomenon around the outer areas of the image plane. This means in some cases it feels like your looking at an MC Escher painting. Things that approach the outer edge of the frame become bent due to the shape of the lens. Each lens has its own formula to undistort. This can be done with many types of software out there, and in our case we show you the software that comes with a very popular camera called the GoPro Hero3. We'll be using not just one, but TWO cameras to create a stereoscopic set of shots. We will show you a technique that is impossible to do any other way and is worth its weight in gold for anyone doing extreme sports. By basically be proving false the rumor that GoPro footage cant be tracked, we will shatter that negativity and open up enormous potential for those on a broadcast budget to get film quality footage in perfect condition and color. Extra footage is included for fun, both in stereoscopic and mono, so you can test our theory on your own.
Step By Step Guide To C4D Motion Tracker
It sounds like a stupid name for a chapter, but it describes exactly what we will be doing. While there is a button that does the entire process automatically for you, you will eventually need to know how to recreate the process from scratch in order to handle those "ever-so-annoying" shots that can ruin your weekend. While there are unlimited scenarios to footage and tracking, we'll be focusing on a shot that contains several problems that require using various settings to fix. The main shot is a very long motion, longer than most shots used in film. We did this so you can learn how to get additional tracking points into your scene for a better camera solution. This is the meat and potatoes of the video.
Stereoscopic
If you think tracking one shot is difficult, imagine tracking 2 and getting CG elements to match! Having said that, we aren't going to break your brain here. Fortunately, having this motion tracker inside of the app makes the process a bit easier. However, there are issues that give process have a few extra steps that you'll need to know about. We are going to have to get into some basic compositing 101 without leaving the app. I’ll show you how to turn on the right buttons and pull down the right menus so that you can get a stereoscopic shot in just moments. This process way more painful in every other app I've used, and if your not experienced in this subject matter, you will want to see visually what is done.
