Ashtanga Yoga - one of the most effective systems of hatha yoga, which Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta outlined. This text was obtained by Sri Krishnamacharya at the beginning of the XX century from his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari, and was later transferred to Pattabhi Jois.
Custodian of school traditions in recent decades was Sri Pattabhi Jois, head of the Institute of Yoga in Mysore, India. He died May 18, 2009, the case went to his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy.
