Learn how to use Fusion from the ground up, with all the latest features that you will find in Fusion for years to come. This is a well deserved update to our second edition Fusion Basics video from a few years ago. Everything you need to know in order to take on VFX jobs or design new tools for Fusion users starts with this video. Introduction
In this tutorial we will explore the latest in VFX technology, Blackmagic Design’s Fusion. Topics array from the basics all the way to imperative in the field of compositing. Discussion covers a plethora of tips and tricks in the software package and various work flow hints to make the user efficient in Fusion.
General Interface & Menus
This chapter will expose Fusion's interface in a way migrators from other software can handle. Learn how to customize the UI and look at some new options implemented recently. Also, we take a look at the menu bar and see how we can utilize it for our personal UI customizations.
Preferences
In this chapter we will have a look at Fusions Global and New preferences. We will discuss the most commonly used preferences and which ones we should turn on by default.
The Node Graph
This section of the video is geared toward the discussion of node based compositing and how to use it within Fusion. We will discuss additional customization of the Fusion node graph and learn all the in and outs of this crucial area. We will also begin to talk about the essential 'Background' node.
Viewer, Loader & Saver
In this chapter we will dig into the Viewer module. We will look at all the relevant options regarding the Viewer and how to maximize its potential. We will also look at masks in this section as they live within the Viewer buttons. Also covered is the Loader and all its powerful options. We will look at loading in multi-channel EXR files, and how to view the passes embedded within it. Finally we will have a look at Savers and see the various options we have to save out image sequences and movies.
Creators
This Chapter is all about Creator nodes. Attention is paid critically on the Fast Noise creator as well as the Text+ node.
Color Correction
When it comes to variety, Fusion practically invented it, pertaining to VFX of course. The color correction tools can be as simple as grading an image, or as complex as using it to grade an entire film trilogy! Check out some cool ways of making it work for you.
Animation,Splines & Timelines
At this point it is time to have an in depth look at the animation tools. See how to manipulate animation data using the very powerful options found in Fusion. Learn tips on how to get the most out of the interface so you can have a great experience with these three crucial parts of the program.
Paint Tool
In this Chapter we will look at the Paint tool. We will discuss the different type of stroke options we have and when to use them. We will touch on all other attributes we have in this extremely powerful and versatile node.
Tracker
Take an in-depth look at how to track an object and stabilize footage. In addition, glance at some options to get the most out of the tracker.
3D Space
The 3D module is by far the most exciting part of Fusion with near unlimited potential. Learn how to get the most out of the most common tools while picking up some cool tricks along the way.
Particles
For the longest time, Fusion has been one of the more powerful particle systems of any app. this module has grown over the years, and will be the difference between almost all other VFX apps and quality results.
Additional Tips
The last chapter explains combining mattes using various mask types. This is an important topic because using many masks and mattes at once can quickly become confusing. We will also have a look at the console tab and how it is there to help us.
